MOGADISHU (SomaliUpdate Online) — Somali Federal Parliament (the Lower House) has wrapped its function on Saturday following four months of business, the Speaker Mohamed Osman Jawari said.
The Parliament’s First Sitting commenced on December 27th, last year shortly after the new members were selected by their respective clans through delegates.
The Speaker praised the commitment of the Members of the country's Lower House during the past four months.
"Since December 27th, the Parliament successfully executed main tasks among them were the election of the new President, approval of the new Prime Minister, the new cabinet and its programme” Speaker Jawari said during the closure remarks of Saturday’s session.
Mr. Jawari urged lawmakers to visit and inspect the livelihood conditions in their constituencies during the two months leave.
He said due to the drought that affected more than 6.2 million in the country, parliamentarians should show solidarity for the people they represent.
According to the Parliament Schedule, the lawmakers are required to attend their first session of the Second Sitting on July 2nd, after the farewell of Ramadan month and the Eid in May and June respectively.
Like any other citizen, Somalia lawmakers are facing security threat posed by the militant group Al-Shabab.  On Friday a legislator Mohamud Abdullahi Ahmed survived after a bomb attack targeted his car in Mogadishu.
