    Somalia: Qatari Emir Pledges Budgetary Support for Somalia (PHOTOS)

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has on Thursday met with the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in Doha, Qatar.
DOHA (Somali Update Online) — Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has on Thursday met with the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani during his official State Visit to Qatar, Somali Update reports.
The President and the Emir discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and the Qatari’s support to Somalia Government in security and reconstruction sectors.
According to Somali Presidential statement, during the meeting at the Qatari Emir’s Palace in Doha, Sheikh Tamim reiterated his commitment to back Somalia, and made new pledge toward financing Somalia’s efforts on reconciliation, re-building and the security.
Qatari Emir also announced his government will commence budgetary support for the Federal Government of Somalia, to enable the new government in Mogadishu to deliver its services to its citizens.
Farmajo’s visit to Qatar was not unexpected as many knew Qatari’s role during the election of President Farmajo in February where a known Qatari-supported individuals were managing Farmajo’s campaign.
Qatar previously supported former President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud during his election in 2012.
