    Somalia: Three Journalists Injured in Beledweyne Suicide Bombing, One in Critical Condition

    BELEDWEYNE (Somali Update Online) — Yesterday's suicide bombing in Beledweyne in the central Somali has killed at least 6 people and wounded over 15 others, including three journalists.

BELEDWEYNE (Somali Update Online) — Yesterday's suicide bombing in Beledweyne in the central Somali has killed at least 6 people and wounded over 15 others, including three journalists.
Abdullahi Osman Moallim, reporter for Jubaland TV, Abdishakur Mohamed Hassan of Saab TV and Abdulkadir Omar Ibrahim of RTN TV were wounded when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive vest and belt in a restaurant outside Hiiraan governor’s office in Beledweyne.
The journalists were waiting for a press briefing from the governor’s office when the suicide bomber targeted the restaurant outside the office.
According to family and friends, journalist Abdullahi Osman Moallim whose injuries were serious is currently in critical condition. He was flown to Mogadishu for urgent medical attention.
"Abdullahi is in critical. He was taken to Mogadishu but needs urgent surgery.” Hassan Said, a family member said.
National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) called for assistance for the wounded journalist Abdullahi.
The Al-qaeda linked militant group immediately claimed the responsibility of the Sunday’s attack in Beledweyne. In a statement, the group said Ethiopian "apostates” were killed. Al-Shabaab has in the past assassinated dozens of Somali journalists across the country referring them as "apostates" and "spies".
