    Somalia: One Person Killed After Suicide Car Bomb Hits AU Convoy Outside Mogadishu

    MOGADISHU (Somali Update Online) — At least one person killed and another wounded after car bomb blast targeted a convoy belonging to the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) in the outskirts of Mogadishu, on Tuesday, witnesses said.

MOGADISHU (Somali Update Online) — At least one person killed and another wounded after car bomb blast targeted a convoy belonging to the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) in the outskirts of Mogadishu, on Tuesday, witnesses said.
Abdi Mohamed, a local resident in Waydow locality said the attacker who was driving a Toyota Noah car loaded with explosives the convoy which travelling in Weydow locality on the Afgoye-Mogadishu road.
"At about 1pm [local time] , a suicide car bomber hit AMISOM military convoy. I saw AMISOM car heavily damaged," said eyewitness Mohamed who saw one dead and another wounded.
Both the killed and the injured were civilians passing nearby when the attack happened.
Police officer Ali Hussein also confirmed the casualty of the civilians.
"We do not know what casualties on the AMISOM side, because they immediately left the scene." the officer added. 
Al-Shabaab militants claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement released by the militant group’s Radio Andulus.
AMISOM has not yet commented on the attack on its convoy.
In recent months, Al-Shabaab has been carrying out deadly attacks that claimed hundreds of lives across the major cities in the country.
The group released on Monday a video of an attack on Somali military base near Kismayo which took place on September.
Over 20 Somali soldiers were killed in the attack which the group claimed to have seized large cache of weapons.
