IPL 2021 Remaining Matches to be Held in UAE: BCCI Officials


The 14th season of Vivo IPL (Indian Premier League) was officially started in India from 9th April 2021 in respective stadiums. Unfortunately due to hike in second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, players got infected and the remaining matches of the IPL 2021 has been postponed without announcing the date.

Today, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the remaining matches of Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held in UAE United Arab Emirates) and the tournament will be completed before October 2021. There are about 31 matches left in this season. Previous year, du to Covid-19 pandemic, the IPL season was conducted over there.

So far, 29 games have been completed in India during the month of April-May 2021. The remaining of the IPL 2021 was supposed to be held in the months of September-October months depending on the monsoon in India. The decision was taken at a Special General Meeting (SGM) held virtually, where members unanimously agreed to resume IPL.

It is a note that England players are not supposed to take part in this tournament. Also, from October ICC has schedule for World Cup T20 2021. The BCCI SGM further authorised the Office Bearers to seek an extension of time from the ICC to take an appropriate call on the hosting of ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
