Dead by Daylight fans have plenty to look forward to this year, and the February 2025 roadmap is kicking off in a big way. The highly anticipated return of the 2v8 mode arrives on February 10th, this time with a thrilling Resident Evil twist. This limited-time mode (LTM) has already gained a dedicated fanbase, but what makes this iteration stand out is the inclusion of licensed killers for the very first time.
Dead by Daylight x Resident Evil 2v8 Mode Release Date and Time
The official release date for Dead by Daylight x Resident Evil 2v8 mode is February 10th. While this was initially leaked on the DBDLeaks Discord by Aricarna, BeHaviour Interactive has now confirmed it.
The mode will go live at:
- 8 AM PT
- 11 AM ET
- 4 PM GMT
BeHaviour Interactive has teased the idea of making the 2v8 mode a permanent addition in the future. However, for now, players will only have access to it until February 25th before it disappears again.
Why This Version of 2v8 Is Different
This marks the first time the 2v8 mode features licensed killers, breaking away from previous versions that only included original characters. The inclusion of Albert Wesker and Nemesis, two of Resident Evil’s most feared antagonists, adds a new layer of strategy and horror.
Mathieu Cote, a senior producer at BeHaviour Interactive, previously noted the challenges of securing licensing agreements for multiple killers to work together in the 2v8 format. However, Capcom’s involvement makes this crossover possible since both Wesker and Nemesis belong to the same intellectual property.
What’s New? Skins, Skills, and More
Alongside the mode itself, players can look forward to new skins and potential skill changes. While full details remain under wraps, leaks suggest a themed survivor lineup with Resident Evil-inspired cosmetics.
Some expected additions include:
- New survivor skins based on Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield
- Exclusive weapons and animations for the killers
- Potentially adjusted perks to balance the new 2v8 format
The Future of 2v8 Mode
Although 2v8 is returning as an LTM, BeHaviour has acknowledged that the demand for permanent large-scale modes continues to grow. The question remains: Will 2v8 become a mainstay in Dead by Daylight?
For now, the focus is on balancing the mechanics and seeing how the community responds. If this edition proves successful, the mode could return with even more licensed killers in the future.
