Delta Plus Variant Symptoms: India was breathing an exhalation of relief that the second wave is almost over. Experts have identified another mutant. This time even more dangerous than the Covid 19 named Delta Plus. Ever since coronavirus first hit the world in 2019 and the virus has been constantly transforming. The Delta variant was first detected in India finally became a huge problem for the whole world. However, the Delta Plus variant is limited to smaller areas in the country. This mutant of Delta was first detected in Europe in March 2021 but it came to light on June 13.

World Health Organisation tagged B.1.617.2 strain as the ‘Delta’ variant of SARS-CoV-2. Now, the “Delta” variant has further mutated to form the ‘Delta plus’ or ‘AY.1’ variant.

Countries Affected by Delta Plus

The Delta Plus variant has been detected in around 80 countries including India, the US, UK, Portugal, Switzerland, Japan, Nepal, Poland, China, and Russia. Around 200 cases of the new Delta plus variant had been found in as many as 11 countries till June 16. The countries are Britain (36), Canada (1), India (8), Japan (15), Nepal (3), Poland (9), Portugal (22), Russia (1), Switzerland (18), Turkey (1), and the United States (83).

Dry cough, fever, tiredness, aches and pains, skin rashes, toes and fingers discoloration, sore throat, conjunctivitis, loss of taste and smell loss, diarrhea,  headache, chest pain, breathlessness, shortness of breath, and speech loss are the symptoms of Delta Plus Virus.

Health experts have predicted that the Delta Plus or AY.01 variant may unleash the third wave in the coming months as it could possibly avoid the body’s immune system. The prevalence of this new variant is still low in India. But Delta still remains the dominant variant in the country as of now.

Covid-19 vaccines made by AstraZeneca and the Pfizer-BioNTech alliance will be effective against Delta Variants.
