Free Wi-Fi for Chennai People: It has been announced that the public can avail of free Wi-Fi for 30 minutes. It can be used through smart poles installed on part of the Metropolitan Corporation of Chennai. Various projects have been carried out in the Metropolitan Corporation of Chennai under the Sirmigu City Plan.
The project has set up an open and control center at the Metropolitan Corporation of Chennai Ribbon building. The main objective of setting up the Integrated Command and Control Center is to integrate project tasks placed in different parts of the city.
Monitoring of major areas of the city with rain gauge detection, water level detection in flood-prone areas. And also monitor liaison with the emergency control center and retrieving relevant information, and taking appropriate action online.

A special feature of the project is the installation of 49 smart poles at various locations in the city of Chennai. The public can use the WIFI connection on these smart poles for free for 30 minutes. The public can register their mobile number to get free Wifi on their mobile and avail of this service through OTP.
