It was the matchup we had come to expect all weekend. The two 5-0 Swiss record holders on each console, Donovan “Fnatic Tekkz” Hunt and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Flávio “Fifilza” Brito, faced off in the FUT Champions Cup cross-console final Sunday to snatch the crown away from reigning FIFA eWorld Cup champion Mohammed “MoAuba” Harkous – and yet again, it was Hunt who lifted the trophy at full-time.
Fifilza rolled into the cross-console final off the back of a dominant performance in the PlayStation grand final. His opponent, West Ham United’s Gabriel “Yago” Fawaz , had come into the day with a big 5-1 win over his console semi-final opponent Brazilian Lucas “LucasRep98” Gonçalves. On top of this, the Hammers esports player had taken down one of the biggest names in the tournament on Saturday, Vitality’s Corentin “Maestro” Thullier. But Brito blanked Yago in the first leg; his three-goal lead proved to be enough for the win, but a late flurry in the second half made the final score 6-2 in the end.
The next FUT Champions Cup will have a quick turnaround, as the FIFA 20 Global Series will return in just two weeks. As always, we’ll be back with our three-day coverage when the proceedings begin on November 22. You’ll be able to follow all the action by either visiting our homepage or heading directly to Twitch.
