INW-B VS INW-G: India Blue registered a dramatic one-wicket win over India Red in the tournament opener on Thursday and would be looking to secure a spot in final by clinching another win tomorrow. Batting first, India Red managed 129-10 in 45 overs with Veda Krishnamurthy (27 of 42) being the top scorer for the side. R Ekka and TP Kanwer shared two wickets each and were the picks of bowlers for India Blue.
Coming to chase, India Blue had a dreadful start and were reduced to 24-8 but Manali Dakshini (49* of 91), TP Kanwer (19 of 41) and R Ekka (29 of 43) at the tail ensured to chase down the target with just 1 wicket in hand and 25 balls to spare. With five batters returning with a duck including skipper Punam Raut, India Blue was at the very verge of losing the first encounter but the heroics of M Dakshini, TP Kanwer and R Ekka would have certainly fueled in the confidence team requires in their second encounter. For India Red, Komal Zanzad and Radha Yadav bagged three wickets each along with Tarannumbanu Pathan who returned with two wickets but in front of M Dakshina’s reluctant innings, it all went in vain.
