Domestic stock markets opened flat on Monday (May 31) and then turned into gains. While auto stocks are at a loss, pharma including Divis Labs is at a profit. Investors are turning to profit-taking in the wake of huge gains last week. Asian markets were in gains for the third week in a row. U.S. markets closed with gains on Friday. Various factors like this caused the indices to turn from flat to profitable. Also, despite the extension of the lockdown in Telangana already, the sanctions have been relaxed. Also, various states are likely to relax from tomorrow.
On gains, the Sensex opened at 51,476.22 points today, hitting a high of 51,687.81 points and a low of 51,179.94 points. The Sensex jumped +282.21 (0.55%) points to close at 51,705.09 points at 10.30 am. The Nifty opened at 15,437.75 points and touched a high of 15,508.45 and a low of 15,374.00. The Nifty gained +69.05 (0.45%) points at 10.30 am and traded at 15,504.05 points.
Top gainers and losers: Divis Labs gained 2.84 percent, Reliance 2.37 percent, ICICI Bank 2.26 percent, ITC 1.83 percent and Bharti Airtel 1.41 percent in the afternoon. In the top losers list, Mahindra & Mahindra lost 4.48 percent, Adani Ports 1.26 percent, Infosys 1.09 percent, Tata Motors 0.97 percent and IOC 0.55 percent. Most active stocks include Reliance, SBI, Mahindra & Mahindra, Divis Labs and ITC.
Sector-wise, Nifty 50 stocks gained 0.46 percent and Nifty mid-cap gained 0.25 percent. Nifty Bank gained 0.75 percent, Nifty Energy 1.03 percent, Nifty Financial Services 0.45 percent, Nifty FMCG 0.76 percent, Nifty Metal 0.20 percent, Nifty Pharma 0.37 percent, Nifty Realty 1.69 percent and Nifty Private Bank 0.72 percent. Nifty Auto lost 0.62 percent, Nifty IT 0.15 percent, Nifty Media 0.35 percent, Nifty Media 0.30 percent and Nifty PSU Bank 0.07 percent.
