Pink and Carey Hart are no strangers to the ups and downs of marriage. As the couple approaches their 20th anniversary, Hart, 49, opened up about the challenges and triumphs of his relationship with the pop icon, emphasizing that communication has been their saving grace.
Marriage is a Work in Progress
Married since 2006, Pink and Hart have faced their fair share of trials, including a brief separation two years after tying the knot. Hart candidly told UsWeekly that their marriage, like any other, requires constant effort.
“I’m at the 19-year mark, so I’m still getting called an idiot,” he joked. “I look forward to 35, maybe then I’ll no longer be an idiot.”
His lighthearted remark aside, Hart attributed their lasting bond to teamwork and open communication. “Marriage isn’t easy, and it’s always about coming back to the table,” he said.
A Relationship Built on Resilience
The couple first met in 2001 and have since weathered various personal and professional challenges together. Despite their brief separation, they reconciled in 2010 and are now proud parents to two children: 13-year-old Willow and 7-year-old Jameson.
Hart’s insights into marriage are not only personal but also reflective of their ability to adapt and support one another. Their relationship is built on mutual respect, even when the road gets bumpy.
Life as Competitors – And Partners
Hart’s competitive streak is well-known, and it seems to be a shared trait with his wife. The professional freestyle motocross competitor admitted that their dynamic often extends to playful rivalry.
“We are highly competitive at anything. Everything is a competition, especially with me,” he shared.
While Pink has been on a two-year world tour, Hart took a break from his own touring schedule to participate in the reality military show Special Forces. This time apart, though tough, may have offered a bit of respite for both.
“My wife is about to wrap up her tour, and we eat, sleep, and breathe together. So, being away from me for a couple of weeks was probably a nice vacation for her!” Hart joked.
Pink’s Reaction to Hart’s New Challenge
Hart revealed that Pink initially had reservations about his decision to join Special Forces. “The first words were, ‘You’re an idiot!’ I hear that a lot. It’s nothing new,” he quipped.
However, her initial reaction quickly turned into unwavering support. “She knows my mentality and personality,” Hart explained. “She said, ‘If you’re going to do it, I support it. Go kick a**!’”
This balance of humor, understanding, and encouragement seems to be at the heart of their enduring partnership.
