Google has unveiled a new tool that lets you customize your own 3D Android mascot, inspired by the Androidify app that was discontinued in 2020. The tool, called “Create Your Own Android Bot”, is available on the Android.com homepage and offers a variety of options to design your own bot.
How to create your own Android Bot
The tool is easy to use and allows you to create a unique Android Bot in a few steps. First, you need to choose from 25 materials for the body of your bot, which Google named “The Bot” at CES 2024. You can select from different colors, patterns, and textures, such as wood, metal, candy, or tennis balls.
Next, you can dress up your bot with 20 outfits, ranging from casual shirts and jeans to formal suits and dresses. You can also choose from some special costumes, such as an astronaut, a ninja, or a yellow jumpsuit that resembles the one worn by Uma Thurman in Kill Bill.
Then, you can accessorize your bot with 20 items, such as glasses, hats, headphones, or headbands. However, you can only pick one accessory at a time, so you have to decide which one suits your bot best.
Finally, you can add some props to your bot, such as a phone, a camera, a game controller, or a wearable that looks like the Pixel Watch. You can also choose from some sports equipment, musical instruments, or food items. Again, you can only select one prop for your bot.
After you finish creating your bot, you can download it as a PNG image or share it with your friends via a QR code.
Why Google created this tool
According to Google, the tool is designed for Android fans to “Enjoy the Mobile World Congress fun from home”. The tool is reminiscent of the Androidify app, which was launched in 2011 and allowed users to create their own 2D Android avatars. The app was discontinued in 2020, but Google revived the 3D version of the Android mascot in 2022.
The tool also showcases the diversity and creativity of the Android community, as users can create millions of possible combinations with the tool. Google also created some custom bots for its executives, such as Sundar Pichai and Dave Burke, last year.
The tool is a fun and interactive way to express your personality and style with the Android mascot, and you can use your bot as a profile picture, a wallpaper, or a sticker. You can also compare your bot with others and see how different or similar they are.
How to access the tool
The tool is available on the Android.com homepage, under the section “Create your own Android Bot”. You can also access the tool directly from this link 1
The tool is free and easy to use, and you can create as many bots as you want. You can also edit or delete your bots anytime. The tool is expected to be available until the end of Mobile World Congress, which is scheduled to take place from February 28 to March 3 in Barcelona.
