SimpL Bets €1.2 Million on Meetings Paid When Held

SimpL raised €1.2 million to bill B2B teams only for qualified meetings held, scraping public signals instead of buying sales data.

SimpL raised €1.2 million in Milan on 6 October 2026 to bill B2B teams only when a qualified meeting is held. Techshop Capital led the pre-seed, with Vento Ventures and several angels. The product reads public job posts, company pages and news, then opens and runs the conversation until someone actually sits down.

Clients pay a rate that starts at €70 and can go higher, with no seats, retainers or setup fees. That is a small cheque for a model that eats the cost of silence.

Techshop Capital Leads, With Vento and Angels

The company’s English release calls the raise a €1.2 million pre-seed round for product work, the core technology and hiring. Nicolò Fugallo is CEO and co-founder, Raffaele Scarano is CTO and co-founder, and Luca Marco Agnoli is the third co-founder. SimpL says it has been active since 2025 and runs from Milan.

Techshop is a Milan early-stage firm that invests in B2B software. Vento, based in Turin and wholly funded by Exor, writes small, fast cheques for teams with at least one Italian founder. The angels were not named. Lawyers Alessandro Vittoria and Anna Abdoni advised on the deal, with Pomara Scibetta & Partners on tax.

WHO IS ON THE CHEQUE

Name Role What is on the record
Techshop Capital Lead investor Milan B2B AI investor; its second fund closed a first round of €43 million on 8 September 2026
Vento Ventures Participant Exor-backed second fund of €75 million; standard first ticket €150,000, follow-on up to €1 million
Angel investors Participants Undisclosed names and amounts
CDP Digital Transition Fund Supports Techshop’s investment PNRR vehicle funded through NextGenerationEU, cited in SimpL’s own release

Vento’s typical first cheque is a sliver of €1.2 million, so the underwriting sits with Techshop. The release is also clear that CDP Venture Capital’s Digital Transition Fund supports Techshop’s investment, which puts recovery-programme money one step behind the lead.

What a Held Meeting Costs on SimpL

The live product page prices the service as software paid on success. A meeting counts when it takes place and meets criteria agreed before work starts. The company does not bill a signed deal, a reply, or a booked slot that never happens. A no-show is free. A reschedule is billed only when the new slot is held. Invoices go out monthly.

THE RATE CARD FOR A HELD MEETING

  • The price: Rates start at €70 and can exceed €150 per qualified meeting held, set before the first outreach.
  • What is not billed: Seat licences, retainers, setup fees and any charge before a valid meeting happens.
  • What sits inside the rate: Target research, personalised LinkedIn drafts, follow-ups, conversation handling, and help with the first setup.
  • Who still owns the close: The customer’s team runs the commercial talk and the contract. SimpL stops at the held meeting.

That shifts cash risk onto a pre-seed balance sheet. Every ignored message is research, model time and a human in the loop that nobody reimburses. For a buyer, the pitch is simple: stop stacking a data subscription, a sequencer and an automation seat, and pay when a calendar block is real. For SimpL, the only way the maths works is if the graph is choosy enough that a decent share of threads end in a meeting, not a void.

The Graph Runs on Job Posts, Pages and News

SimpL says it does not buy contact files from outside vendors. It collects public material, including job ads, company pages, news and other open sources, with its own stack, then stores companies, people and interactions in a proprietary knowledge graph. Deep-learning models estimate who is likely to reply, when to write, and on which channel.

The operating system plugs into tools a sales team already has, email, CRM and calendar, and is supposed to learn the firm’s products, customers and tone. It can start the contact and carry the thread, choosing the next step from the other person’s reply rather than from a fixed sequence. Failed threads go back into the model as well as the wins.

The public site shows what that looks like in draft form, using a made-up staffing firm and a hiring manager.

Hi Elena, I saw Northwind opened three recruiter roles this month. Teams usually staff up like that when client demand is outrunning the bench. We help staffing groups keep sourcing and outreach running between hires, so the new recruiters start with a warm pipeline instead of a cold list. Worth a short call next week?

The move is specific: three open recruiter jobs, a guess about demand, a short ask. That is the opposite of a 400-name sequence with the company name dropped into a blank. It is still a cold approach. The bet is that the reason for writing is tight enough that a stranger will take the meeting, and that SimpL can live on the fee when they do.

A Wording Change in a Job Post Beats a Headline

Scarano’s claim is that the useful signal is often small. A shift in how a vacancy is written can matter more than a splashy news item, because it can mark a budget, a team gap, or a change of plan before the press release exists. Collecting more pages is easy. Ranking the ones that change a reply rate is the work.

The quality of predictions depends on the ability to read even very specific signals. Often, a change in the communication style of a job posting can indicate a more relevant commercial need than a highly visible news story. The challenge is not collecting signals, but understanding which ones actually improve the prediction and which are just noise. This is why the system learns from every response, including negative ones.

Raffaele Scarano, CTO and co-founder, SimpL press release, 6 October 2026

Fugallo frames the commercial argument the same way. Most sales software, he said, helps teams do more activity, more lists, more messages, more automation. SimpL starts from which companies are worth contacting, at what moment, and with which message, then charges only if a qualified meeting happens.

The difference is that we do not sell another piece of software to add to the sales tools companies already use, but an integrated process that learns from every interaction and is paid for only on success.

Access is gated. The site asks teams to request it, then agree qualification rules during onboarding. That is consistent with a young company that cannot afford to run spray campaigns on its own dime. It also means the published rate card is a starting point, not a public menu with volume discounts.

Techshop Closed Its AI B2B Fund in September

On 8 September 2026, four weeks before this announcement, Techshop said Techshop II had held a first close of €43 million, above its first target, and that it wants €100 million by 2027. With the second vehicle, the firm, founded in 2021 by Aurelio Mezzotero and Gianluca D’Agostino, aims to become a multi-fund platform with about €150 million under management. Giovanni Strocchi joined as partner at that close, after work at McKinsey, Vodafone, ADmantx, Blacksheep and Eden.

FROM FUND CLOSE TO THIS CHEQUE

  1. 2021: Techshop is founded in Milan as an early-stage B2B software investor.
  2. 2025: SimpL is active, per its own about section, building the sales operating system.
  3. 8 September 2026: Techshop II holds a €43 million first close; the firm says first investments will cover AI for sales, development tools and advisory work.
  4. 6 October 2026: Techshop leads SimpL’s €1.2 million pre-seed, 28 days later.

The fund’s stated thesis is that AI will make B2B software about ten times larger in value and more specialised, by automating whole processes rather than digitising tasks. At least 70% of Techshop II is meant for private companies resident in the EU or the European Economic Area with a permanent establishment in Italy, a structure designed to fit Italian venture-capital rules. CDP Venture Capital is the reference investor, through FoF VenturItaly II and the Digital Transition Fund.

Strocchi’s note on SimpL matches that memo. He called it a vertical product on proprietary data and AI, with an outcome model that ties the vendor’s growth to the customer’s. He also said sales is a first process, and that the same prediction layer could later serve other work inside a firm. That is the wider wager hiding under a pre-seed for meetings: get the contact right, then reuse the graph.

Techshop’s public portfolio page still lists other names, from conversational tools to robotics, and does not yet show SimpL. First-fund maths the firm has cited include 23 companies, a 1.8 multiple on invested capital and a 1.5 total value to paid-in capital. Those figures describe the earlier vehicle, not this cheque.

EU Recovery Cash Backs the Same Bet

SimpL’s release states that Techshop’s investment is supported by CDP Venture Capital SGR’s Digital Transition Fund, using PNRR resources from NextGenerationEU. Italy’s industry ministry describes a capital contribution of €400 million Digital Transition Fund managed by CDP Venture Capital, aimed at private investment in digital start-ups, including artificial intelligence. The money does not land as a grant on SimpL’s invoice. It sits behind the lead fund that wrote the cheque.

That matters because the product’s raw material is people. A work email and a name on a job ad are personal data. Building a graph from public pages does not, on its own, make outreach lawful. On 9 October 2024 the European Data Protection Board set out three cumulative conditions for legitimate interest under the GDPR, after the EU court ruling in case C-621/22.

THE THREE TESTS FOR A COLD EMAIL

  • A real interest: The aim must be lawful, precise, and present, not a vague wish to grow a list.
  • Necessity: If a less intrusive method would work as well, the processing may fail; data minimisation still applies.
  • The balance: The person’s rights, the impact, and what they could reasonably expect can outweigh the sender’s interest, unless extra safeguards cut the harm.

A job-ad watcher that writes to the hiring manager about the gap in that ad is closer to those tests than a blast to every address in a bought file. It is not a free pass. The first message still has to identify the sender, offer a way off the list, and be about that person’s role. SimpL’s public materials do not publish a legitimate-interest assessment. Any customer in the EU will need its own.

SimpL House Puts Research Next to Sales

The company has opened SimpL House in Milan, a shared space modelled on a hacker house, with research, product and commercial work under one roof. The stated aim is to pull in people and keep the models close to live deals. The release adds a harder constraint: SimpL sells only through its own product. The operating system has to book the company’s meetings before it can claim to book anyone else’s.

That is the cleanest version of the bet. A €1.2 million pot, a rate that starts at €70 per held meeting, no list vendor on the cost line, and a lead investor that just told LPs it would back AI for sales. If the graph is noisy, the no-shows eat the round. If the wording of a vacancy really does beat a news alert, the invoices follow the calendar, and the seat-and-credit stack is the thing that looks expensive.

Harry is the editor of SOMALI UPDATE, an independent title he owns and runs. Ten years in journalism, from reporter to editor, have settled into a set of verification habits he applies to every story. A quote is checked against the recording or transcript it came from. A statement attributed to an organisation is confirmed on that organisation's own channels before it is repeated. A figure is traced to the dataset or filing that first published it, and a photograph is checked for when and where it was actually taken. If any of those checks fails, the claim is left out or clearly marked as unconfirmed. Those habits cover the whole site, which reports news, business, technology, science and sports along with entertainment, lifestyle, travel, auto and gaming for readers around the world. Product claims in the technology, auto and gaming pages are tested in use where Harry can get his hands on the product. Corrections are published under a public policy and noted on the article.
